Buggy Flicks

The Community Centre received funding to run a pilot of 5 daytime film screenings specifically for parents with babies and/or toddlers. The screenings took place monthly from November 2022 to March 2023.

The idea was for parents and carers to watch films on the big screen with their little ones, twelve months and under, in a relaxed environment, without worrying about making too much noise. The space would not be as dark and the sound not be as loud as at regular cinema shows.

A creche for pre-school children over 12 months, run by Tallulah Tay, a DBS registered child care worker and qualified primary teacher, was provided in a screened off area at the other end of the hall.

There was a small charge of £2 per parent. Tea, coffee and refreshments were provided.

Parents who attended have suggested that films that toddlers can watch along too would work better so that’s how we ran the remaining screenings. We are looking into ways of continuing to run the scheme sustainably beyond the pilot in the autumn. Watch this space for more news.

Buggy Flicks was made possible with support from Film Hub Midlands through funds from the National Lottery. Film Hub Midlands support people to watch, show, and make films in the Midlands.
